Animated RPM Gauge (Tachometer) sound effect test

Description

This my friends is in fact a test video of my capability to animate gauges in a car or other vehicle. The sound (which I created back in March 2014) is in fact a sound loop from Midtown Madness 1, the engine drive loop from the Panoz Esperante GTR-1 Race Car in-game, the sound file “RACECARDRIVE22.WAV”. It was not until late August of 2014 that I completed this video here. This is kinda hard to explain, but I’ll try my best to explain how I created the sound for this. You see, in car racing games such as Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport, when you go to the tune setups for the transmission, there’s this graph that shows these diagonal lines representing the ratios of each and every gear in the transmission. Well, in Wavepad Sound Editor, I managed to create one sound similar to the one in this video (except shorter, has one less gear, and has no “supercharger”, therefore no whistle is present. Before creating this one here, I duplicated the original sound file and added a “whistle” to it. But anyway, how I created the sound was pretty simple: in both cases, in “Speed and Pitch Profile” in Wavepad Sound Editor”, I managed to use the speed adjuster bar in the middle of the graph there to mimic the transmission gear ratio lines I saw in game, and I was stunned by what came as a result. The first sound was created in late Autumn 2013, while the second sound file (the one in this video) was created in early March 2014. The video part on the other hand was created using VideoPad Video Editor. All I used was a picture of an RPM Gauge from Google Images, which I used Microsoft Paint to separate the gauge needle and put it in a separate image file so I could animate the needle it. I apologize if I wasn’t clear enough, but hopefully you might know what I’m speaking of. To help clue you in, here’s one picture from Google Images that might help you understand what I am talking about: http://oyster.ignimgs.com/mediawiki/apis.ign.com/gran-turismo-5/6/66/Gturismo5_b02_001.jpg
